Baby Christening and Some Fab News

Welcome to the weekend and the sun is shining :-)

I'll start with my news first as I'm really quite excited about this one!  You remember back in May I attended a Clarity Stamp workshop?  Well since then I've been really, really busy as Barbara asked me to join her design team!  OMG how fab is that?  My first selection of cards are for the shows on Create and Craft this weekend so if you're watching listen out for me and then I've got the German show coming up shortly afterwards.  I'm both nervous and excited but, I'll be glued to the tv watching in anticipation :-)

I knew my crafting buddies would understand my excitement as others don't really get why I've been like a kid at Christmas ever since I found out!  I'll be able to show you my cards once the programmes have been aired.

Anyway onto today's card and it was a commission from my best friend for a christening that she was attending.  I decided to try a criss cross card for the first time with this one as I think they're so effective and it was so simple to make too.

Materials used:
Coloured with promarkers
Nestability - labels 18
Spellbinder die - crosses (set one)
Distress ink - spun sugar

Faye

Well I don't know about everyone else but I'm sick and fed up of the rain now!  My daughter had arranged a bbq and rounders game for Thursday night in aid of cancer research for around 60 or 70 of her work colleagues.  It's taken weeks of preparation and what happens, yep you've guessed it - rain!!!!!!  It's now been postponed until next week so fingers crossed for better weather.

On a brighter note, it's challenge time again over at A Gem of a Challenge and Christine's given you this great theme, although I had to keep checking to make sure I'd included all of the items below on my card :-)

BUTTONS, BOWS, BLING & BUTTERFLIES

You'll also notice on this card that I've got a couple of crochet flowers that I've layered up.  Over the past couple of months, in between all my card making and the day job, I've been teaching myself how to follow a crochet pattern and mastering the stitches.  My Mum taught me the usual granny squares when I was a youngster (which was quite a few years ago) and I was inspired again by the gorgeous work of Heide (BusyBeeMueller) over on DoCrafts.  After trying out different types of threads and yarns, as well as size of hooks, these are the end result so you'll be seeing a lot more of these on my cards in the future!  Why not pop over and have a look at Heide's gallery and check out here work?  She's such a talented lady.

Anyway, here's my card for the challenge and if you need more inspiration why not pop over to A Gem of a Challenge and see what the talented Pink Gem design team have created too.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Roller Skate

Morning crafters :-)

I do believe we have a bit of sunshine here in Peterborough this morning!  I'm not sure how long it's going to last for though as the forecast for the weekend is terrible.

Mark and I are going to the Moto GP on Sunday at Silverstone and the weather forecast is for rain so guess who'll be getting wet?  Yep little ol' me!!!!  Off to buy some waterproofs today, did someone say it was summer?

Anyway, it's Friday (yippee) and we have a new challenge for you over at Fussy and Fancy.  As it's Father's Day here in the UK on Sunday we thought it would be a great (last minute) reminder to get your cards made for your dear old Dads or just to make a card for any male occasion.  So the challenge for the next fortnight is BOY ATTITUDE.

I was asked to make this card by a colleague at work for her son in laws 40th birthday.  The brief I was given was that he is a keen roller skater so this idea immediately sprang to mind and apparently he loved it.

I'd like to enter my card into the following challenges:

Art Impressions - husband/father
Charisma Cardz - male cards
Do You Stack Up - boys/men
Clear It Out - male/eyelets
Outlawz - male cards

Bathtime Baby

I hope you've all recovered from your Jubilee celebrations last weekend and, for those at work this week hope you've enjoyed the short week.

We had a fantastic street party on Monday with all the neighbours bringing food and drink and a couple of volunteers struck up the BBQ's.  We had bunting between the houses and flags flying high.  The weather was really kind to us with only a few showers, but we had put up a couple of gazebo's to be on the safe side, so took refuge when the showers came along!

This week at A Gem of A Challenge we've got another challenge for you and it's my first one as part of their DT!  It's Christine's turn to host the challenge and she's given us this brilliant sketch to work with:

I've been a bit of a rebel with my first card as I've spun the sketch around a bit, but I have used all the elements!!  Maybe this will be my first and last challenge with the Pink Gem girlies - tee hee.  I've used two different Pink Gem images and one of their sentiments as well (details below), isn't she a cutie?  You can see all of the fab images available by clicking on the Pink Gem Designs blinkie below.
